Seoul Children’s Museum was opened by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in Children’s Grand Park to provide a creative learning space where children and their parents can learn through playing.
Built on the design concept “architectural playground”, Seoul Children’s Museum is an integrated learning space where children and their parents can learn while having fun.
The Museum comprises exhibit and education halls tailored to children’s developmental stages, including Toddler Playground for infants and Beyond Sensory Play in which children with disabilities can also participate, and provides an exhibit environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
Reflecting visitors’ requests, the Museum provides various convenience facilities such as group lounges, hand-washing areas within exhibit halls, and nursing rooms.
Built In Harmony with Nature
Reflecting the unique characteristics of the city and the park, exhibit halls are located to the west and support facilities are located to the east of the building.
The green flow of the park is actively brought into the buildings to maintain the connection between the courtyard, slopes and outdoor decks. As a result, the Museum is a children’s facility within the park where children can have fun in harmony with nature.
The use of natural light is maximized in this eco-friendly facility by making the sky visible from the center of the building and letting light into experiential and educational spaces.
Energy-saving and Eco-friendly Building
The electric project window enables natural ventilation in a short time and reduces heat overload.
The building is green certified by actively utilizing new renewable energy through the use of solar energy, high efficiency LED and a geothermal system.
Environmentally friendly materials were applied for finishing and universal designs that prioritize children’s safety and convenience were used throughout the building.
